Default Oil Cap stuck!

Has anyone ever have this happen. This is not a LS1 but I do own one of those too. I cannot get the oil cap off the valve cover on my 98' Cheerokee Sport. I try to loosen it and it just spins and clicks (same click you get when you overtighten a oil cap or gas cap). Is there a tool or a easy way to get it off without removing the valve cover?

Thanks alot,

Doug

Its pretty simple, I had it happen all the time on my CJ after I put the newer style valve cover on with a new cap. All you need to do is get a screwdriver under the edge of the grip part and pry on it, it will pop out leaving the actual plug in there. Then get a pair of pliers that fit around the edge of the plug and turn that bitch. You may need to get a new cap if it wont snap back together properly, sometimes the teeth break.

exactly what I was gonna say. just pop the damn plastic piece off and then use some pliers or channel locks and then replace the piece of **** cap with a cheap all metal one from advanced or somewhere and never have to deal with it again.

Yeah, especially happens if you try to take the oil cap off with the motor still warm. Stupid plastic valve cover.
