Default EGR Removal w.o a tune?

Just curious what the car would do if I were to get rid of the EGR and drive it a bit before I got a tune?

The car would be absolutely fine, but just be aware that the "Service Engine Soon" light would be on until you did get the tune. If you can live with that, then I say go for it.

with all your mods... you should have a tune. It MAY even already be programed in to not throw a code for EGR. (assuming its for the 98)

You have tables to modify spark when EGR is active but I would still suspect you might benefit from remapping the spark table. Especially with those mods!

Just be extremely wary with it. When I put my long tubes in and ripped out the EGR and AIR on the 1999, my air fuel went to 16-1. Very very bad. That's what happened to me, doesn't necessarily mean it will happen to you. Would get a tune before you even get on it just in case. I put the TA on the dyno before the tune to find out what gains I would have with the LTs and actually lost 7 hp. Mainly the AF ratio, just my .02 though

Hi Folks
Why remove it? it only plays a role under normal driving and is useful - WOT, it isn't even a player.
thanks
Bill

That is a good question. Weight and it takes up space. There are advantages to keeping it.

Some people find the EGR valve the perfect setup to bubble alcohol-water vapour into the engine resulting in better fuel economy and power.

Hi
I am not sure I agree with you about Fuel econ, I removed mine on an older car and it only caused problem and I could not see any difference in gas mileage - none! On my 02 does not have it, 97 it is on the back of the intake, you can't even see it. If you want to clean up the engine Bay, get a power washer ha, ha.
thanks

It accually dose, It recycles exhaust fumes back into your intake. It reduces C0 levels. You might just not notice it.
