OIL CHANGE light?? Comes and goes??

OIL CHANGE light?? Comes and goes?? Today my "oil change" light stayed on when i first started my car. Checked the oil, and the level seemed good (halfway in the thatched area) and it was relatively clean.
Well all day today the light has been staying on when i first start my car and about 30 seconds after i start driving it goes off and stays off untill i start my car again.
What the hell is this about???

It's the GM oil life system. Explained in the manual. To reset it turn the key on and depress the gas pedal three times, or turn key on and press and hold the trip/oil reset button on the dash for a few seconds until it goes off. I change my oil based on mileage and don't bother with it.
