Default sounds like exhaust leak but it's not...

Ok so i have what sounds like an exhaust leak but according to my exhaust guy he is saying that there is no leak.. it's only there when i give it some gas or if it's in a high gear.. Anyone have an idea of what it might be i thought it was the valve covers but they are good...

well it might be.. But if he said that he checked it from the headers and back i would think that he would catch that... Right!!

Tapping/ticking sound could be a loose plug or plug wire arcing. Just for the heck of it start the car and rev in in the dark.

Stock exhaust or do u have Lts and ory?? The reason i ask is because alot of the slip fit connections on Lts (longtube headers) leak a tad and it may not leave any sign of leaking! Did the mechanic have somebody else listening under the car while he revved it or was he by himself? Its hard to tell by yourself, cuase u cant actually get by the sound cause ur in the driver seat!

i have bnn headers and loudmouth exhaust. What he did was that he had the car up and walked under it with a hose to it. Then he had it on ground and did the same thing on the headers.

I have Long Tubes and ORY and I get the same thing. The header gasket looks good and is new so thats not it but the slip fit exhause makes since. What can I do to quite that down. Have it welded? Or some kind of sealant?

i would try to find some sealent i would never weld it since it's going to lose it's flex from torque and heat.

I finally welded my slip-fit headers to my ORY....best thing I did..stupid band clamps are ok..but always seem to leak a bit.

I used some 3" flexcouplers so it would still have a little movement if needed! Also helps when u need to work on ur tranny, u wont have to cut and reweld! If he was using the pressurized gas to find the leak that is the best way to find one! If nothing showed up then i would look more towards a valvetrain noise and spark knock (detonation)! But my guess is the slip fit connections on the ORY!
