Default Ticking sound in 5th and 6th gear

when im driving my trans am in 5th and 6th gear, i hear a ticking sound while accelerating; the more throttle the louder the ticking. ticking sound is louder in 6th gear than it is in 5th. what could be causing the problem?

I would check for exhaust leaks or maybe a valvetrain noise like bad rocker arm or bent pushrod, ive ran into both of those before and they can sound very similar!!!

any reason why it would be in just 5th and 6th gear? if it make it at 2000rpm in 5th, why wont it make it at 2000rpm in 4th?

Good point, it could be cause it is under more of a load in fifth! Where does it sound like its coming from? Under the car? If so u may have a pilot bearing worn out!
