The pulley just screws off with a wrench. I can't remember the exact size but I think it is a 14mm. The bolt on the back is kind of hard to get at and you just need to get a wrench on it and keep turning it slowly. You won't be able to turn it much at a time. This is a nice spot to have ratchet end wrench's. I always unclip the little wire first so I don't break it but if you have it done it before, you might have a hard time getting it. I use a small flat head screw driver and pop the tab up.

Not sure what pulley you're taking off or why. You just remove the serpentine belt. Undo all the bolts holding the alternator on and reattach the same way. Here's a pic to give you an idea.

***edit ls1 alternator is diff, guess more complex, seeing what i can find for ya.

The bolt on the back is a pain, use a combination of open end and boxed end wrench and be patient. I can never get to the small control wire so I wait until I get it all unbolted and lower it down a little to make things easier. Same goes for the power wire as the stud always wants to turn with the nut and twist up the wire, so I turn the alternator to unscrew the stud until it is far enough out that I can get a wrench to fit between the alternator and the main power connector. Hope this helps.

I just replaced mine a couple days ago. You don't need to take off the pulley from the alternator if that's what you mean. There is another pulley above and and towards the passenger side from the alternator, but you don't need to take it off. (I did when I took mine off for the little bit of extra room, but you don't need to if you don't want to)

After the front two bolts, I took off the wire from the back.

The bolt in the back.... I had a shorty ratchet and it seemed to work fine for me after I used the open side of a wrench to loosen it. it is a bit of a pain.

Then after I had all the bolts out, just fight it upwards and out of the brackets. Then let it rest on the sway bar. Then from up under the hood I disconnected the wire coming from the top. (A Hook works nicely to disconnect the connector)

Then just keep maneuvering it out from below (in front of?) the sway bar. I think I had to turn it about 135 degrees or so counterclockwise to get it out.

I then reconnected all the wiring after I had the new alternator mounted in.

Hope that helps!

To get the bolt from behind a found an easier way. Get a 1/4" drive with a long extension 12-15" at least, a swivel, and a 13mm socket. This also works for the power cable. Then slide further under the car and come at it from behind. It is a tight angle to the bolt, so a 3/8" drive with a universal doesn't really fit. This is way easier than using a wrench here. Hope it helps.

I had no trouble on that rear bolt with a ratcheting wrench.
