Default car sputtring and backfiring

I have a 98 camaro ls1 my mods are lid, ported t/b and longtubes and catted y.When i drive the car normal its fine but if its at a lower rpm range like 1500 and i give it a good amount of throttle it will start hickuping and popping from the exhaust. And if i go wot it does the same thing popping from exhaust and no pull to it, my problem is im not throwing any ses codes so i dont really know what to do i changed 02 sensors and it did not help so if you have any info I would appreciate it THANKS...

Sounds like a fuel issue. Maybe clogged fuel filter or fuel pump on its way out. Can you check your fuel pressure? Did you get a tune after all the mods?

dont think you would need a tune with what mods you have, seems that it is a fuel issues swap out the filter and see how it does. It is only a couple dollars and takes about ten minutes to do. Does it act up all the time when WOT? Probably just something simple that a good tune up will cure.

Screw the guage into the schrader valve.. Which is located on the front of the driver side fuel rail.

fuel and spark go hand in hand, since the filter is changed make sure you can burn it. make sure your plugs are good and your plug wires also.

I was wondering the same thing. It may also be the lack of a tune since either:

1. your O2 sensors are not giving the reading the PCM wants and it's trying to compensate

2. if you removed the O2 sensors then the PCM is looking for them and can't find them and is trying to compensate

Do you hear any hissing or smell fuel? I installed LT's and my EGR pipe right behind the throttle body was loose...it kept sputtering and popping like you described and wouldn't get enough power. All I did to fix it was pull the pipe out and resettled the o-ring on the pipe, tightened it up and it instantly fixed it.

after i took my car to the track one night i started getting very shitty backfires and sputtering everywhere i drove, a week later i found out that my passenger side spark plug wire was not fully connected, check all of your connections, maybe that will help

the crankshaft sensor is right above the starter...more than likely since you have headers you will have to take you starter off to get to it..
