Default new ceraminc breaks sqeaking.. normal?

me and my grand father put new rotors and cermanic break pads on the rear.

i had horrible shuttering and such. this fixed it. usually i drive with music. but last couple days i was just enjoying listening to the car itself. when i can faintlyer hear a casual sqeaking noise when i start to lightly put on the breaks.

im assuming this is somewhat normal just figured i would ask.

Ceramic brakes do tend to be a little noisier than metallic brakes so yes it could be "normal".

Mine do that. Especially the first application or two of the day. They quiet down a lot after that but there is still the occasional squeak.

did you put any of that oil or grease **** on them. its been a while since i did mine. so i cant remember the name of it. but i just ordered some drilled and slotted rotors with hawk pads. and i was always told to put the oil or grease, whichever it is, on the pads. and that would prevent squeaking.

well i went to get some brakes for my wifes car and they have the stuff at the counter at any autoparts store. the one i got was a little blue packet with a brake pad on the front. u just apply a strip of the lube on the backside of all pads and you should be good. good luck man.

I sell alot of ceramic brake jobs where i work and never have a noise issue with them when the work is done properply , turned rotors, new hardware. but it really does boil down to driving habbits and traffic conditions.

Did you also change out the metal hardware/clips that fit in the calipers? I believe one of the clips is specifically to keep the brakes from squealing.

When these brakes are changed, they need to be lubricated and the hardware needs to be replaced.

In addition to lubricating the back of the pads/shims where the piston and caliper contact the pads, lubrication is also required at all of the contact points where the pads touch the hardware/clips. (Lubricate the channels bent in to the hardware and the edges of the pads where they contact the hardware.)

If your old brakes were making noise before, they may have been masking noise from something else. When I changed my brakes recently, I still had a squeak, which ended up being bad hubs/bearings in the front.

I put ceramic pads on the front brakes on my DD park avenue. No noise what so ever. I like the no brake dust part. That was the main attraction.

But......I also made sure the backside of the pads were greased properly and shims installed......I don't care for unnecessary brake noise.

Agreed.......not lubricating everything properly will almost guarantee noisy brakes. Do as mentioned above and I bet your squeaks will be gone.

they do make a brake quite. its a paint on substance that coats the pads and that seems to help

Any chain parts store will have little packets of caliper grease.

braked were making no noise before. and it only sqeaks slightly under a light brake.

and you can hear the squeak change tone pulsing. but the breaking itself is smooth and without issue.

i changed pads and rotors. i will say this. at first i was trying to loosen the wrong bolts. the ones that seem to keep turning endlessly lol. kind of hard to explain without taking a picture.
