Default oil leak....

changed the rear main seal/gasket and i seem to have oil coming out the bottom right side of the bell housing... looks like its coming from the bolt going into the engine, and the area where the bolt goes up into the rear cover through the oil pan... i re adjusted the rear cover twice, and had it spotless both the bottom of the cover and where the oil pan touches the rear cover... dunno where its coming from now... its leaking while it just sits there on jack stands...

any help appreciated.. bout rdy to burn this thing lol

Youre supposed to put it on the corners where it meets the oil pan. Just to be on the safe side....

Ok, if I change the oil pan seal/gasket whatever it is(looks like I gotta leak on the pass. Side from the oil pan), can I apply the rtv sealent on the corners, and might that solve my problem? Would pictures help show you guys what I'm talkin about? I really would hate to drop the transmission again

Ok strike my last post, could I put rtv sealent all across the bottom where it meets the oil pan? Including the corners? Just to make sure it doesn't leak from anywhere?

Thanks for the quick responses,
Michael

alright, thank you for the quick responses blkbird youve been very helpful

aight, im goin 2 finish up the car,

i'll post the results (leaking or not leaking lol) when im done

should i put on a new seal or gasket while its all back off again? (the rear covers been off twice so far with the new gasket and seal on it) just to make sure none of the rubber stuff is messed up from taking it off twice? or should it be fine.

thanks,

michael

Some people reuse the same cover gasket but its always a good idea to replace the main crank seal. Just make sure the if youre going to reuse the cover gasket that its still intact and not completely flat. If not, they I would go ahead and replace it. So far ive replaced every gasket in my engine from oil pan to valley cover.......
