I do believe they make MAF cleaner, pretty sure you can get it at any auto parts store. A fellow f-body owner once cleaned my MAF about a year ago, I can't remember if he used MAF cleaner or like brake cleaner or something, whatever it was made a bit of a difference. Evidently the fresh oil on K&N filters can get sucked up and coat the MAF wires a bit I have been told?

Yea - GM has a TSB (for some reason its listed only for A/T cars) that points the finger at oil coated air filters. K&N has this research: http://www.knfilters.com/MAF/massair.htm

I don't have an opinion on who's correct - but its interesting reading.

Any cleaner that leaves no reside will do. Brake cleaner is the cheapest. But all will do the job.

Brake Cleaner is very risky as it will dissolve plastic parts. The MAF cleaner and special electronic contact cleaners will not.
