Default Is this the fuel pump?

Today I was driving and my car decided to start bucking and died on me, I let it sit for a bit, and started it, it started but was very hesitant to accelerate. it dies again about 200 yards away. i start it up, suddenly theres a loud whining noise at idle, i pull out car is still bucking and kicking trying to accelerate and the whining sound still can be heard driving, seems to be coming from the back of the car. This happened before, and only seems to happen on warm days, i thought i had a coil pack going bad untill i heard the whining noise..

does this sound like a fuel pump to you guys? never had to replace one before.

Usually whining from the back is a rear end, but if the car is dying on you I would guess the fuel pump.

Start the car and get out and listen for where it is coming from.

If it is the fuel pump get the racetronics kit for 240 shipped to your door as it is the easiest t use- simplly plug and play,

I know it involves cutting but the trapdoor method would save you the frustration of dropping the tank.

It could be the pump. disconnect the line at the fuel filter and have somebody turn the key to see if it is pumping. If not, then there's your answer. It could also be a really clogged fuel filter too if not the pump.

Definitely fuel pump related. Either clogged filter, clogged filter on pump, or pump going bad.

Thats exactly how my fuel pump went out. I could hear a whining from the rear end when the car was not in motion and it would start to die after awhile and had not power. My advice would be to hook up a fuel pressure gauge if you havent already. That was the only way that I could convince anyone thats what the problem was.

Glad to know it was the problem! Did you drop the tank or use the trap door method?
