Default WTF!!! Need help, video inside.

I've come to the conclusion that buying a 3.4L V6 Camaro was one of the worst decisions i've ever made. Its given me problem after problem. I have over $8,000 into the car (including its price.. And I got it for a decent price)

Well, in december, My head gaskets went. The night before they went, I noticed my car was extremely "sluggish" and seemed like it wasnt getting any power. It wouldnt go past 4500rpm's... After we replaced the head gaskets, the problem was still there. Its still not letting me accelerate.

Thats WOT in 2nd gear.... ... Notice how it stays on 4500rpms though, even with my foot still on the gas peddle, and it doesnt accelerate at all.

Try cleaning your MAF and make sure your fuel filter has been changed. Both are easy to do and will cause your fuel flow to be cut, along with your get-up-and-go.

Fuel injector flow issue maybe? Have you tried running Seafoam through the gas tank to clean the injectors out?

I'm just guessing here. Sorry...

I just had the injectors flow tested and rebuilt. They came back like new. I did a fuel pressure test, and it was at 42lbs.

I never changed the fuel filter before, and my car has about 94,XXX miles on it.

First off change the fuel filter yearly just to be safe or at the most every 20K.. you do all this other heavy work and don't do the basic fuel filter change is just silly. What made you think it needed gaskets other than not reving past 4500 rpm? Sounds like you are just replacing parts at random because I find it very hard to believe you blew both head gaskets on the low reving low compression 3.4l at the same time. Even boosted 3.4s in f-bodies would crack ring lands before a gasket would go.

The fuel pressure.. 42lbs was that with the vacuum line on the regulator? did the pressure rise and fall with the RPM's? Its been a while but I believe with the vacuum line pulled off the regulator and plugged the pressure should be around 50psi.

Could also be a clogged cat, possibly even a coil going bad but that would probably show up more as a constant miss and the engine would run rough. Also change the plugs and wires as well do the basics before you go and do big stuff. It will save you tons of money.

hmm.. I changed my head gaskets because i went through about 4 gallons of coolant in 2 days, and it was extremely hot... And all the coolant was pouring out of my exhaust.. After I changed the head gaskets, problem solved!

I changed the plugs & wires during the rebuild, but I should probibly just pull one to see its condition.

It is either a clogged cat or what I ran into in my 3.4L, after I gutted my cat and had the top-end done over, and that was the cam position sensor. I'd be willing to bet that is your problem.

reinstall your fuel pressure gauge and run it outside the engine bay to the windshield. take your car out and stomp on it. your fuel pressure should raise a little bit and stay consistant. if it drops as your rpms go up then it is your fuel pump not giving your engine the volume that it needs. your pressure might be fine at idle but the volume might not be there to make high rpm power. this will also cause your car not to shift into the next gear. your pcm has to meet certian values to make the shift. at WOT i will only shift at a preset rpm. if it is not receiving enough fuel to hit that rpm under WOT it will not make the shift. as far as your converter you can install a pressure gauge into the front O2 sensor hole. your pressure gauge should not read more than 2 psi at 2000 rpms. also if one of your cats is stopped up then you should be reading misfires on one bank as you floor it.

Its a 3.4L there is only one cat gmtechnician.

As far as your question Camaro_94, to be honest, I don't recall I believe there is only one?

Check camarov6.com's forums. I know there is info about it in there, great place for some info.
