Corroded fuel line update. Well finally managed to get under the car today and check the fuel lines, which the test centre told me were dangerous and wouldn't pass the next test unless replaced, this is what i found strangely the other lines seem untouched!

What could cause this to happen? dont know if anybody else has had this problem, car has barely 20k miles & is stored under cover, and it seems to run the almost the entire length under the car.
How easy is this to replace, can it be done on jack stands? I was told i'd need a return feed aswell, the dealership wanted twice the cost of the fuel lines than i could get direct from GM parts & alot more to install them, which would put my h/c install, and getting it tuned back even further.

There was a warning here about a bad batch of fuel that got sent out to Shell garages, screwed up a lot of peoples fuel systems, think it was just fuel filters & pumps, they paid out, but this was months after i had the car tested.

Yeah but thats the outside I would see if I could cleen it off to see how bad its pitted first maby you can just use some scotch bright to make it look new thats what I'd do. if it looks like its pitted out then replace it.

Nope sorry tried that, it's not for coming off! feels like it's pitted outwards, like the metals bubbled, but looks like rust. which if it is, why arn't the other lines affected?
Anyway! if anybody knows where i can get replacement parts & what to buy that'd be great, tried gmparts but they don't seem to have the replacement fuel line, then i can get this off and have a better look at it off the car.

just a thought... but did you think of taking it to the dealer and bitching? alot of our cars have a 8/10 yr emissions warranty. and if you bitch enough they might just replace it for you as to avoid any fires or anything that would look bad on them. I know if you came in to my dealer and went straight to the service advisor and explained the seriousness he would at least give you a major discount
