Sometimes you have to reset the oil light, do a search on here for it. It's done by turning the key on for 3 seconds and something, something, something. I don't remember but you should be able to find it in here.

The low oil light comes on when it's about 2 quarts low. After seeing the proper level it should turn off on the second ignition cycle the PCM sees 194*? If it's staying on something is wrong with the sensor or wiring, it's on the side of the oil pan. Low Oil and Change Oil are different things.

i have the same problem with my lt-1. i over filled it once, and now the low oil light stays on. if i turn the key to the on position until the ignition/seatbelt beeping stops then turn the key off and then start the engine, the light goes off, but the next day the light comes back on. i'm guessing the sensor is worn or something.

If you know the oil level is alright and no leaks no nothin you got nothing to worry about! It also comes on in my car whenever I use the alarm to remote start it.

Mine stays on all the time. Mine is because of wiring i believe. I always check my oil and its good. Gonna figure it out one of these days. I dont think you should worry.

Mine stayed on all the time too, until this morning when the car wouldn't start and I replaced the battery. Having the battery disconnected made the light turn off. I just bought a new oil level sender that I haven't installed yet. If the light doesn't come back on, I might have one for sale.

I think you should worry.

It's a $10 part, if it's bad, replace it. You never know when something freakish might happen, and you'll wish you had fixed it instead of replacing a $3,000 engine.

the low oil sensor is an engine life saver, make sure to get it fixed and don't leave it unplugged, when my light came on i filled it with just a little over or less then 2 quarts and as soon as i put in the oil to the right level the light went off diffently check the wires or test sensor

Finally figured why mine always stays on, the brown wire was broke right outside the connector and you cant tell cuz its still intact, just the wire stretched and broke somehow....

I had the same exact problem occur to me 2 months ago. I would check the oil level and fill it but it would still come on frequently. Eventually, I just figure it was a bad sensor so I ignore. However, when the oil does get low it wont warn me or anything so I have to check the level periodically, I guess the sensor died. It kind of sucks thou cause my car eats up about a quart of oil between oil changes. Hopefully when I seafoam the engine something magical will happen in reducing oil consumption.
