Default 98 ignition lock problem

My dad has a 98 chevy pickup and when you put the key in the ignition it is sometimes nearly impossible to turn it to start the car, any ideas on what is wrong? the truck does have 160,000 miles on it so it could just be worn out i suppose. thanks

The key is probably worn out. If you go to a dealer and give them the VIN, they should be able to punch a new key that will fit the cylinder perfectly. (Just copying your worn key won't fix the problem.)

Do you have a spare key to try?
