detonation??

DETONATION?? All I know about it, is its NOT GOOD!!! What does it sound like? Can I tell by REV'n it up? I have a CUTOUT, Predator, TSP Lid and I cut the foam out of the front of the nose. Also, the other day the SES lght came on, and it was code PO171 FUEL TRIM BANK1 SYSTEM TO LEAN. I set the Predator Power enrichment to 0%. HELP!!!!!

when you have it under load (acceleration) and
open throttle.
Just revving it in neutral will seldom cause it.
But, if you hear something that sounds bad, tinny
and only comes in when you get on it, that could
be it.
Use your Predator to knock the fan turnon temp
down, and you should have none on a stock-MAF
vehicle.

Re: DETONATION?? detonation sounds exactly the same as a diesel motor does although much less pronounced you will have difficulty hearing it in your car with the cutout.. I would do as others have suggested .. pinging is BAD.. my car would ping under load at partial throttle no matter what I tried.. even with race gas I changed the garbage plugs to NGK TR55's and the car hasn't pinged once even with the crap 91octane we have here
