i can't figure out where i'd go without having an entire tune done. isn't it 'illegal' to erase emissions codes? want to wait to tune it till heads/cam/headers are on and i can get a good dyno tune. should i just not worry about it till then?
Is the code for one of the air check valves? It's cheap and easy to replace. Won't hurt to drive it with a secondary air code, but the SES will remain on and you won't know if something else happens.
What he said. Codes for check valves are P1415=driver side, P1416=pass. side. New check valve is like $10 and will keep your light off.
Start by getting the code scanned. If it is a check valve they are in the pipes going into the exhaust manifolds, they are removed by releasing the clamp on one side and unscrewing them with a wrench. Here's what they look like for reference:

A couples years ago I was getting the 1416 code. All I had to do was remove the passenger side valve and clean it out with carb cleaner. Worked fine until I bannished all the smog BS a few months ago.
Yes, it is illegal to have the system turned off in the computer. In most states you can gat away with it because, as long as they don't see a code, it gets passed. My car passed inspection a month ago without the AIR and EGR systems but I had them deleted in computer.
