Default Engine ticking

I've owned my 99 SS since new. It has been service on a regular basis with Mobile 1. It has always had a slight "tick" at cold start up, then fades as the engine reaches operating range. I've taken in to a Chevy dealership twice and have been told nothing is wrong that its common in the LS1. Last November it received new rings, seals, bearings etc. due to a GM bulletin. The "ticking" remains and again I was told nothing is wrong.
I recently switched to Redline Oil 5w30. Now the "ticking" is more evident and I am getting alot of lifter noise. Car runs fantastic however and doesn't use oil or have any loss of power. Have you heard of this "ticking" problem before?
Can it be corrected? Does it NEED to be corrected? Any assistance is appreciated.

We've been through this one before and for the life of me i don't know if it is lifter noise or the injectors making the noise.I have the same noise on my 02 T/A.

When it was at the performance shop getting new gears,i started my car to leave and the owner of the shop says...you have a noisey lifter

I told him most LS1s make that noise and it's not a lifter...he said BULLS*IT it's a lifter..end of discussion.

I really don't know what the ticking is on my car,it runs excellent though,so i don't worry about it.

I took it in to the Chevy dealership as it was still under warranty. I was experiencing alot of oil usage. They start an "oil consumption test" of which I was to bring it in every time I found the oil low. They would record the mileage and top it off. Within only 753 miles it had used over 2 quarts of oil. They said it was time to stop and had me come into the service managers office. He explained that GM had send out a bulletin in Jul of last year. The bulletin stated that LS1 engines in 99 and 00 model Corvettes and Camaro SS's (not Z28's) were found to have received defected piston rings. A GM rep was called to inspect the service dept. findings and authorized the complete rebuild. Didn't cost me a dime and they gave it an additional 12,000 miles of warranty. The car HAS to be covered by its factory warranty or extended warranty through GMPP when brought in initially.

No idea why they said the Z28's weren't affected.
Does anyone out there know why this might be? Is the Corvette and Camaro SS LS1 engine different than the Z28's in some way?

I have a 01 and same thing but has gone down with 35K on it, (still present but much less noticeable).

I've read about it here and there and I gathered it is a manufacture defect to do with rods slapping the block due to clearance.(If I remember correctly)
I is not happenning in Corvette motors but in f-bodies. Not all of them but a big majority.
Also the ring seal problem was supposed to have been fixed in 00 or 01 I think.

that ticking is normal...Its just the valves...our LS1's do that... and if you ever change the cam...it will be more evident...will sound like a sewing machine.....Its Normal....and GM wont admit to it.they tightened up the tolerances in 2000 so it really doesnt happen after 2000....

I wasn't sure about the Z28's, they only stated the SS and Vette of those years. You mentioned that GM won't admit it.
That might explain why the second time I took it in for the "ticking" they called and said it was done within about an hour. I don't think they even looked at it. In your opinion (soundegineer) should it be corrected?

I had and still have that noise, I took it to the dealer and they replaced the pistons, rings, bearings and i forgot what else, at first i could not hear the noise, but eventually the noise came back. This work was just done 1 month ago. I am starting to think this noise is common in our cars, just like everyone says, but the car runs strong
