Well so much for that idea. The problem is as I previously stated (#62 and 46) they are aluminum with steel dowel pins. They have been wallowed out allowing for the slop. Seems the only fix is to replace both. I'll do some research to see if these are available. If not, live with it or new column.
they are available. about $500 dollars, but they are available. Seeing as how just about every GM car ever built with tilt steering uses this design and eventually has this problem, you'd think someone in the aftermarket would make steel pieces. If its an issue of safety, it can still be designed to break away without this wallowing out problem.
