Question Power Steering Milky and Missing?!?

So I did a bit of reading of old threads and the common conclusion of milky power steering fluid was just to change it.

However, my power steering is seeming to change itself as in the fluid is going somewhere just not on the garage floor. The fluid itself looks like the girlfriends latte. So my only recourse at this moment is to add some Bars Leaks power steering junk and regular fluid until full.

Problem is after about 2-3 mins of turning the wheels lock to lock I'm low on fluid and can do this repeatedly.

So where's the fluid? What do I have to replace? etc etc...

Note: This is a 1998 SS and have heard they came with power steering coolers, however I've never seen it under the car so I'm not sure about that.

Me vs Power Steering.

the power stearing cooler is in the upper radiator hose its an aluminum finish piece. most likely its going in your radiator so check you coolant.

Bingo...her cooler is leaking, causing her PS fluid and coolant to mix. Change out or bypass the cooler, and then change the PS fluid and do a coolant flush.

Thanks for the help. Any chance they sell the parts at a local part store or this a gm only type of thing that the dealership is gonna have to provide?

Part numbers?

Thanks again.

Stealer-ship only I think. Last time I checked, it was 100 something dollars.

There is one on eGay for 50 Bucks.

I never knew that's what it was. My 98 does not have it(luckily).

I always thought it was in the radiator like a trans cooler.

I just got a normal upper radiator hose and got rid of the power steering cooler. I took the two power steering lines and hooked them together with a barbed fitting. no need for a power steering cooler for me

pressurize your radiator with a tester tool and look for bubbles in the PS resevoir.
