Haha

Yeah, same here. My gf makes fun of it all the time when I use the remote to lock the car. It sounds so puny next to her Ford Escape which is a total chick car!

ya my sister has a ford escape and her horns are beastly compared to my high tone only horn.

anyone know how to fix the portion of the horn system that is in the steering wheel? i think that is what my problem is.

here is a link on how to remove the airbag

I don't think it is in your wheel. If it was, neither would work.

I'm not sure exactly how these are wired up and I haven't looked (both mine still work fine). But try connecting the low horn to the high horn connectors and see if it works. If it does, you've just got a bad connection somewhere. Aren't these horns wired in parallel?

it is a 99 camaro.
my high tone horn has always worked the entire time that i have owned the car.
my low tone horn has worked two times in the 5+ years that i have owned the car. the first time was in 2007 after i replaced/bolted the new low tone horn to the car, and put the two wires to it. it worked so i bolted everything back up. from that point on it never worked again, just the high tone horn.
fast forward to last night at about midnight. i am under the car and see the horns and remember my issue. so i get to the horns and see that one of the wires came off. i put the wire back on and come back the next day to test it out. same thing as before. i test my horn and the first time that i press it both work, but then right after that it goes right back to the high tone only.

i took the relay, 50 fuse and 20 fuse to autozone for them to test it. they all came back fine.

why do you think that my horn is not working?
is it something in the steering wheel?
can anyone post a picture of what their horn set up looks like so i can compare with mine? i am a visual learner and seeing what the setup should look like is very helpful for me.

thanks,
jdoyle
If one horn is working then power is getting to the horn, check the wire that connects the two horns and clean off the connections. If the wires came off their probably loose or corroded. If your connection at the steering wheel was bad, neither horn would work.

i will try that too thanks. anyone have a picture of how these horns are supposed to be set up? like the complete set up. i might be missing some parts or maybe even have too many parts down there.

anyone have a shot of a complete Fbody horn assembly? like the whole thing, all mounted and hooked up and everything. if i had a picture, i could replicate what the horn system is supposed to look like and make my stuff work.

thank you 'tech.

i yanked my horn setup off. if i post a picture of it, can someone verify that it should be working properly?

EDIT: and here is the picture. please forgive the rigged bracket. i replaced the low tone horn which is why the new harness is there.

this is all you need, right? slap the bracket to the body and plug the connector in from the harness and i am good to honk, right?

let me know how it looks.

thanks 'tech.

does anyone know if this box has to do with the horns?

do you think that the top right nipple not having a line coming off of it is what is causing my low tone horn not to work?

thanks for any help in advance.

tested the 2 horns on the bracket using a car battery and they both worked great! i was using butt connectors when it wasnt working but i borrowed a buddys soldering iron and soldered them.

hopefully everything is straightened out when i put the horns back on the car.

i'll update yous guys.

opinions on changing an oil pump and timing chain with only 20k miles on them?

seems a little unnecessary to me.
