From what I've read on these forums, aftermarket wires and coils are pretty much a waste of money; the stock stuff works fine unless you're making mega-power and are trying to squeeze every bit out of your setup. Save up for that stall...

Dont waste your money!

The GM coil is fine, the MSD has had issues. If you need coils then buy the gm, save money and drive happier.

You actually lose power by switching to the MSD coils. Heres how.

What the MSD's are in perfect working order, there is no power gains.
But! They like to fail at random and intermittently. This usually results in a misfire in that cylinder or multiple cylinders.

Misfires equal power loss.

Mike @ G-Force was telling me about a test they ran on a twin turbo C5.

Only change between runs was changing from stock coils to MSD.

Stock coils was 601 rwhp @ 7800 RPM
MSD coils was 601 rwhp @ 7800 RPM

Waste of time and money!

I've seen a LOT of people even custom paint their coils with high $ automotive paints and some people rattle can them and I can say that I've never heard of any overheating issues. But you know if you read it on the internet, it's probably true.

stay with the stockers. my car had msd wires on it when i got it about 2 years ago and i did a few plug changes and a few of em just wouldent snap on right any more and i live in a tiny town so i had to get some auto zone duralast wires then i went to the track the next day and ran the best run to date(12.6@110xx)
so i really dont think they do any thing maybe on a high boost car that has trouble keeping the spark going.
