Default Weiand LS1 Intake?...

My buddy came across what seems to be a steel or iron LS1 intake manifold made by Weiand. The stamped numbers read 80205. Anyone know where this intake falls vs. the LSX and LS6 intake manifolds? Is it even compatible with an LS1 engine?

Thanks!

It could be aluminum I suppose. It's totally cast metal whatever it is and damn heavy for an intake manifold. It's about the same weight as an aluminum head so I suppose it could be aluminum...derr dee derr lol

I already have the LS6 so it's not really a huge upgrade then?

if you read about lsx intakes on this site, the consensus is anything other than ls6 or fast90 = fail.

its been proven that the ls6 intake makes as much power as any other aftermarket intake except the fast 90.

im waiting to see real non biased dyno numbers on the weiand warrior. as of right now not one person can say the warrior is good or bad, there is no proven info on it yet.

This is not a true statement. Do more research. Type of intake you buy & level of performance you recieve is sometimes limited by the pocket book. There are alot of custom fabbed intakes out there that will be better than both intakes you listed but depth of pockets determines weather it's a affordable option.

For a cheap good LS1 replacement that you will see gains from just go LS6. If your pockets are deeper then you have several choices on the market. Expecially if your gonna run 7k RPM's & up cause the FAST will run outta breath.

I sold my ls6 intake for a polished holley/weiand intake. I did it mainly cause it is polished and I was going with all black exterior and polished/chrome under the hood. Mine has been ported so it works out pretty good. Good intake for nitrous I hear. Don't worry about heat soak bs you will get. If anything I gained hp not lost.

ok, will the weiand intake give as much hp gain as the ls6 and do you need a throttle plate for it? im trying to find the best intake for the ls1 im building, im using the ms3 cam, port and polished ls1 heads, and goin with pac setter headers

Did it not effect your IAT's ie make them hotter. That is why the LS6 and FAST are composite to lower IAT temp
