Default I think my steering rack is going back squeeks when I turn the wheel

It's not a powersteering pump whine it's a squeek when I turn the wheel from left to right, Now is it possible to put an fe3 rack in place of an fe2? Do they mount differently? Is there a different ratio on an fe3 then an fe2?

I worked for a rack rebuilder for years. Swapping racks for the same model with different gear ratios is a snap (they look the same). I'm not 100% sure on F-bodies though. But I would assume a 99 TA already has the quickest ratio in it, no?

Anyways, I would doubt that a rack would cause squeaking.

More likely:

Dry sway bar bushings (remove & lube w/ white lithium grease).
Worn ball joints.

Does it make a groaning sound whenever you turn it? Mine did that intermittently last winter, only a couple times.
