nice, but I need them to be quiet in the cabin, so I will probably run them out the back

well it gives you the idea of the deep sound and better sounding exhaust ..you can defiantly run them out the back with a 4 chamber magnaflow

Be different...I have TD's with high flow cats, into edelbrock 304's that dump before the axle. My previous setup was with TSP TD's with spriral flows. Sounded great, dont get me wrong, but it was too loud inside the car. The drone at 2300rpms would make your ears scream for help. With this new system, its damn loud at WOT, but almost half as loud inside. I lost 5rwhp and 7rwtq going from tsp to my system, but it was well worth it IMO

Well I said f it Im going to go with 3inch H pipe with flowmaster 10 series single chamber dumped before the axel, and if its too loud Ill run them out the back. One thing I want to know though is how restrictive are the flowmaster 10's? I know the catback is bad but what about these?

I like my 17 inch flo-pro twisters better than my old spiral flows. They are about the same sound level at idle, but the twisters have a cleaner/sharper idle. At cruising/WOT the twisters are a little bit quieter.

How loud are these (flowmaster single chambers) on a dumped H pipe compared to a magnaflow catback?
And the flowmasters flow really well right?

I ran 1 chamber flowmasters in a few different configurations and I got to tell you... lol.. comparing Magnaflow cat back to dumped 1 chamber flowmasters is like comparing a whisper to a 747 at takeoff! FlowMaster 1 chambers have a loud resonance inside the car to where talking on the phone or holding a conversation with anyone is almost pointless. Even run out the back they resonate really bad in the interior at least they did in my car. that is the problem with all those wanting a Low deep sound.. Low and deep = Lots of interior resonance in an f-car. I've gone to sweet thunders since then and although they are not as deep thwere is very little resonance and they still sound wicked.

I like the analogy!
So what is it that makes these cars resonate so bad? Is it similarities in the material of the uni-body and the exhaust? Any way around it?
As far as holding a conversation/phone I guess Ill have to just get one of those little blue-tooth headsets that looks like a borg implant. Man I hate those things.

ravensfan did you run the high flow cats with the TSP set up? I have one now (not on the car though) and am thinking of modifying it to get cats after the headers.

That is exactly what I told my buddy when he was researching TD's. Eventually I convinced him to go w/ sweet thunder instead of Flows. He loves them and has NO regrets!

+1 for sweet thunder.

They don't resonate at all. I have had a bunch of people tell me my car sounds awesome because it doesn't have that raspy sound that so many do.

Pacesetter LTs, 2.5" true duals w/H-pipe ran under the axle and out the back.

i remember reading a guy who pulled his one chambers off when he was on the dyno and he either gained 1 or 2 rwhp.

if you get a good muffler with a true dual setup you still won't have any rasp without cats btw

Thanks guys for all your help. One more question...
like i said im going with h pipe and flowmaster single chambers. If i find this setup to be too loud what can I do to quiet it down? Basically I want flowmaster sound, but less volume!

EDIT: devils post, woohoo lol

did you have the sweet thunders dumped or out the back? i want to get duals and I like loud, but i want to minimize drone in the car and if i go duals it will have to be a dumped setup...

They are still very loud but of the mufflers I tried in a Dumped TD setup they have the least interior resonance.
