Can you not get it inspected because the check engine lights on or because they looked and saw you didn't have any?
If it's because the check engine light then you can go to a performance shop and have them edit your computer to take that crap off so you can pass inspection.
If they looked and saw it then go to another place. Ask around, as long as your check engine isn't on you should be able to get around it.

Take the 50 you were gonna slip the guy and have your performance shop fix you up to were you can go get the sticker "legally".
I'm running PS LTs ORY and still got state inspection for $40.
You can either get your **** straight now with a one time fee or you can slip the tech a 50 every year...and risk him getting a fat fine and get that shop closed down. Sure what the hell, you don't care about that guy so that's not really a concern.
The point is you can pay a one time fee and be set forever. Or pay $50 a year..which adds up fast if you plan on keeping the car. Make sense?
Plus you (the OP) never said whether you failed by a visual or if your check engine light is on..

But in any event, I always feel its good practice to not use these they type muffler shops for any kind of work on my ride.

I find it hard to believe that they just chopped the cats and tossed them, without notifying you first and getting your explicit 'okay' to do so. I only say that because this violates all 50 state and federal laws.

Wow, that guy was a cheese dick. That sucks. Go look for a younger guy, if the check engine light isn't on then you should able to find someone to pass it. Just ask around. If all else fails then toss em a couple bucks. I figured you failed because of your check engine light.

maybe i missed it but, you put on LT's without cats and you did not pass inspection? Ok heres an idea but it might cost you a few bucks. Get a y-pipe with "removable" cats that way it interchangable then slap the cats on for inspection, pass it, then go home and take'em off and put on straight pipes in they're place. I have a buddy who does it but he fab'd up his own y pipe...which is why i said it might cost you a few bucks to do it.
