Angry What Sensor Is This (that I broke)?

I broke a sensor while taking off my intake manifold (just going too fast). It's black, about 1" in diameter and 2" long, and it's located on the very back of the block, just left of the driver's side head (looking at the engine from the front). Any ideas?

ok thanks... I assume it just screws/unscrews directly into the block?

I sure wish they would re-enable the search and stickies function of this board again. It would make it easier and faster for people to find the info they need.

Thumbs down

Not being a dick. This question has been answered a ton. You should brush up on your search skilz. I just did a search for the words "broke a sensor" just in the titles and found 10 hits. Leave off the option for searching just titles and the number of hits is huge. I enjoy helping anybody on this board as long as they are willing to help themselves first. Most people just want their hand held.

When putting the manifold back on just keep the socket over the sensor to prevent you from breaking it again.

HavATampa you're right normally i would have taken longer to do a search but i had 30 mins before the auto parts stores closed until monday. z16kalel -- thanks for the tip i was trying to figure out a good way of getting the manifold back on w/out breaking the sensor again

Don't worry about folks and their bitterness over the search function. Everyone knows how it is to be in a clinch and need some info. Good luck with your fix. I broke mine off the first time I pulled an intake off an LS1 and after spending 65 bucks and driving 30 miles for a new one I was very careful afterwords.

I put intakes in and out a bunch of times, never broke it until I tried to take it off of a bare freaking block outside of the car. Figures.

There is a special socket for it, it's not necessarily one that is just a deep well.

Personally once I figure out the Wiring, I'm switching to the short style that is on the Trucks and the newer stuff, they are less prone to break and easier to work with.

well ive had my intake off 3 times and every time i lift the intake and pull it out. you have to for many reasons. the rear 4 bolts will drag on the heads, the brake booster hose has to be snaked out. i just dont see how its possible to pull the intake straight forward out even if the oil pressure sender wasnt there.
