Hmm very interesting. Guess when I gutted pipes in the past I should have kept the **** I busted out...intstead of throwing it away. Could people just go to junk yards and get a shart load of cats of pos's if that was the case? Or DO people do that?
Maybe I should quit my day job and start gutting cats..

You can bust the **** out and take it somewhere and their going to look at it like a pile of **** and not take it.
Cat recyclers only take whole cats, if the inside is damaged you get 1/3 the price or less of a good whole cat of the same type.

9000th01ss, thanks for the pic that really helps me explain my point but don't be so upset...I'm just saying remove these 8 bolts and the cats come out...no welding required. simple as pie.

One other thing, it's 5 bolts per cat.

Why does everyone think they have to be a comedian? Someone with a question posted a thread, hoping someone here had the answer to that question. Isn't that what this site is all about? Some of us are into our cars more than others and get to know the specifics of these cars like the back of our hand. I am in the middle of helping a friend put a complete exhaust system under his 98 Z28, and until now, I didn't even notice the pass side pipe behind the cat had a dent. I'm not trying to put anyone down for knowing their vehicles. I'm simply saying, be a little more understanding of people who do not.

Ya dealerships cant turn off those codes unless they have hp tuners or something and the day i see that they better have a dyno in there also lol.
But if you unplug your post o2 and u have cats it will take a while to trip a code from it and i wouldnt worry about it cause if u do trip a code from trying this your car going to run funny when u plug it bck in.
