No, that is 1 layer. I think it is like 2" tall or something like that.

I would always seal the lid like in the pics i posted. if you get eye level with the lid, you can see gaps by in the back by where the tabs are

You degrease the outer edge of the lid where the filter touches.
Then you put a bead of the right stuff sealant around this area and flatten it with your finger so it's about 1/8" thick, it wouldn't hurt to go 3/16" thick.

Now you put the lid on so it will compress the sealer and it can set up and cure in varying thicknesses.

Whats the wax paper for? Well you do want to remove the lid right? or do you want to leave it glued in place?

Really thats up to you. But if you lay wax paper down you can remove the lid (because not much sticks to wax paper)

Now it really doesn't matter how much sealant squished out of everywhere because you can trim it all off.

I hope that helps, if not just don't do it.

Take your maf and bellows off.
Clean, degrease real good, the area that touches the filter.
Take some Right Stuff, or even some other silicone type sealer and put a bead around the edge where the filter touches. You might want to wait for it to skin over just a little.

Now lay some wax paper on top of the filter and re-install the lid onto the air box and clip it down.
Wait 24 hours or so.
Take the lid off, peel the wax paper back, trim the sealant.
Reinstall everything.
Nice! I'll just add that it might be a good idea to use a "sensor safe" sealer.

ok im confused...if you basically seal the entire box and intake where do you get your air from?

That air come from the bottom of the car under the air dam

From what fast toys says, the turbulence that the two different systems cause as they try to outforce each other into the lid offsets any gain. Personally I havent tried that, but if a business would recommend you only use one of their products instead of two, that kind of speaks for itself.

ohh thats too bad, but I thought I read somewhere that with the under hood ftra you can still use the air from the ram air hood to cool the engine (but not help with horsepower since you have the ftra for that), have any of you heard of that? I could be way off here lol

Does anyone think this mod would be a good idea for a car with only the FREE COLD AIR mod? I don't have the FTRA on my car and am curious if I should try this or not?

FRA mod is easy and does help alittle, but dont expect to gain a bunch of HP. After i did it i noticed my engine ran alittle cooler and throttle response picked up alittle.

i sealed mine today with some weatherstripping. sealed the lid and the back of the lower airbox. i couldnt believe how shitty fitting the lid is. the front and bottom was already sealed when i did my FTRA.

told ya, once you get eye level with the lid and look towards the back with the tabs, you can see all the gaps back there

yea i have those gaps there and on the sides....what size of weather strip did you use?

it was some thick rubber wxing i got from autozone. probably 1/4 inch it was thick

Im glad to hear all the great feedback on this. Ever since you did the track test with it i been planning to finish up the car and this is what i have planned next... Too bad texas is hot and i gots to keep the ac...

I am definitely planning to weather strip my SLP Lid and I already am sporting the FRA. My question is do you think it would be wise to seal the entrance to the air box and rely soley on the FRA to feed my motor without the FTRA?
