Are these the new redesigned longtube headers or the older tuned-length headers?

Took the starter off? It shouldn't be giving you that much trouble. Try lifting the car a little higher man and try a different angle. The passenger side was a lot easier than the drivers side for me.

Did you unbolt the trans mount and move it to the side like you HAVE to. Otherwise it wont go in.

Can you possibly take a picture of where its hitting? I know my problem when I put my headers in was the car wasn't high enough. I ended up having to buy a 24" jack and using tall jack stands, car looked like it was doing a wheelie.

I dont have access to a camera it is the spot right where the bellhousing is I have the car up high enough to turn the headers straight up but it seems whenever i think it is gonna go in it hits that spot and wont go any farther!

I went through this pain in the summer.

I ended up having to undo the bolts from the motor mounts, and jack up the engine until it wouldn't go any higher.

I also had to take a chunk out of my K-member.

Best of luck man!

It is hitting on the floorboard when the last primary goes into place. Im thinking of loosening both motor mounts and see if I can twist the motor would that work?

IIRC I only undid the passenger side. How high have you jacked up the motor? Mine was almost touching (if not actually touching) the cowl.

I havent loosened the motor mounts yet i have quit for the day the header catches on the end of the k member across from where the starter is and the trans tunnel right above it I would really not like to cut my k member it seems that it just doesnt want to go in!

Tomorrow, try to loosen the motor mount first. Back the bolts out almost all of the way.

If that doesn't work, then start to grind away at your K-member.

Also, just an idea before you get the in, remember that you will not be able to lower your car.

this was the only issue i ran into when installing my SLP's,,,i used the ol BFH mod on the spot where the hearder would hit,,,didnt take much to change the shape of that area to let the header squeek by...i mean like 3 or 4 hits did it. I did mine this way without messing with the starter. As mentioned, you do have to unbolt the trans mount, stick a 2x4 or whatever up there, and give a lil shove over towards the drivers side. I would do the grinding on the K member LAST, (you probably wont have to do it) I did not do anything with the motor mounts on mine...Hope everything goes well!

If you read the install directions from SLP you wouldnt even be wasting time by asking this. You would also have this project finished if you would have taken my advice instead of looking for an easy way out. dont waste time asking if you arent going to listen anyway. I have the SLP Tuned length original design headers. you have to move the transmission side to side to get them in. it is easy and you wont have to grind on ****. But if that is an option you decide to not take, Just use a ******* grinder and cut the **** out of everything until they fit.

Also hope you rerouted the pass side wires like you have to so it doesnt burn through the harness. oh well, **** it!

You don't need to grind, just loosen up some bolts, get a ratchet strap, your favorite hammer, and go to town with it. As Mike said above "CHECK ALL THE WIRES" or you will only be able to drive 1.2 miles before the positive wire to the starter welds itself to the header. Yes I know from experience, I should've double checked the wires, I had to rerun the start wire.
