Hi!
Thanks for a great thread!
I stil have some question to my setup, first some specs:
LS3 Covette, High Lift Cam, L76/L92 Intake and heads
Mounted in a pure Race Car, Skyline R32 Drift Car
Regulation in my class is that I need a 3L oil Catch tank for the ventilation (On the valvecover and so on) and there must be a external level meter on the thank. And the tight space, means that I need to fabricate the tank(s) my self.
What is the correct connection for best race performance on the thank? As far as I can tell, there where no PCV valve between the valley cover and the intake (Dirty Side) when I recieved the engine from the engine builder in the USA. Also, there is no connection on the rear of the passenger side valve cover. I have modified one of the drawings that I located, and I want some opinions. I did not draw a catch tank on the Clean side. And do you recommend to make a connection on the rear of the passenger side valve cover? and connect them together with the dirty side or clean side?
The reason for the Catch tank is mainly to catch oil when/if you tip over on the track.
Thank you for all the help

Great thread. However I am a little unclear on the routing of the lines to the catch can.
Also, I was told by several people to just get a breather on the valve cover. Should I do it?
I have an LS1 block, with LS6 heads, LS6 intake manifold. Not sure on which valley cover I have at the moment. I saw several diagrams on the routing for the lines on the catch can, and I just didn't know which ones to use.
I am doing this because when I drive my car and go full throttle on it, there is smoke coming out the back. The heads are fully built, and there is a decent cam in the motor. It makes around 500. I am tired of burning oil and don't want to hurt the motor.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Yeah, my catch can does a great job as well- almost too great. That sucker collects about 2 ounces every 150 miles. Seems like a lot to me but the biotch runs great at WOT, at idle, blows no smoke and still gets great gas mlg.
This was my setup but after some research I put a PCV valve just before the top input on the catch can (too early to tell if it is really needed).

I went thru and replaced every inch of vaccum line with new hose. I noticed that the factory stuff was really rotten looking so I thought that I might as well just replace the whole setup. BTW, I'm running a single RevXtreme on my 98 LS1. I haven't yet seen if there's been any oil collecting in it, but I have noticed a check engine light that seems to come on in the morning if I let it warm up on its own. I can't remember which code it is, but I know it's a misfire code. Is it possible that I've got a leak somewhere in my PCV system that I created...? The light comes and goes.
It also seems to be getting pretty bad MPG, which I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the PCV upgrade I did because I can't remember how long it's been going on. What I can say is that at ~55mph constant, flat ground, cold air, high gear (M6), 4.10 gears, 140k miles, that my MPG PID is registering ~19mpg. Something has gone horribly wrong, lol. I used to get an average of ~27 mpg on a road trip with my current mods. Interesting for sure.
Maybe my old PCV lines were so crusted over with filth that they were actually holding the engine together
Try not to report me to the Fbody abuse people but I'm pretty sure that the car just shed its original PCV Valve from 98

so i have a 2000 TA, has a LS1 Vally cover. i have purchased polished valve covers and unfortunately they do not have the hookups for the PCV one on the back of the driver side cover one on the front and back of passenger side cover.
this is what i was thinking of doing.
i was going to buy bulkhead AN fittings and drill holes in the top of the covers for all 3 hoses and hook up everything like stock. one way check valve in the hose with the TB and run the back to hoses to a "T" and then to a catch can, after that back into the front fitting on the intake mani. of course i would use nice stainless braided hoses and black anodized fittings to make it look as nice as possable.
basically im wondering if this would work? i know that the stock covers have baffles in and the aftermarket ones do not. i guess that is my main concern..or is that what the catch can is for?
