LS1 vacuum port removal. Just wanted to know how to remove the vacuum port at the rear of my LS1 intake. It has two ports and the MAP sensor mounts to it. I have removed the sensor but don't know how to get the port out of the manifold. Thanks for your help.

As you can see in that picture, that guy broke his. That piece is NS(not-stocked, non-service) and is considered to be an integral part of the intake. If you look closely at that port piece, you'll notice it has multiple retention barbs/tangs. It is meant to snap into the manifold when pushed in. To remove that port, you have to have the Throttle body removed and then, using something long, strong and narrow, push the detent inwards while using your other hand to provide a "pulling outward" action on the port. Once one of the clips is pushed inward far enough, the pulling force of your hand should be able to pull that side out and then you can get the port out fully.

Yeah, it's ancient by internet standards. But I've been looking for references on what ports on the LS1 intake go to and I came across a couple that were misleading ("Twist it") and I just wanted to set the record straight in case someone else came across this post. NYC, eh? Nice to see!I'm near Albany and putting together a 5.3 with PT7675 turbo, Wiseco Pistons, Callies Rods and Isky Triple 12 cam. Hope to have it all together by next Spring.

1999 LS1 fixing in 2017 im thankful there’s people who are not afraid to revive old posts. I searched for this because I am trying to get everything away from the oil pressure sender to replace and might leave this vacuum port alone it’s even a bugger to get the hose off I don’t want to break it.
