Y-Pipe Hitting undercarriage; HELP!
My question is, what would be the best way to correct this? The vehicle is a 2000 WS6, manual transmission, with long tube headers and a no cats. The y-pipe is hitting JUST after where the cats would be.
Thanks a lot for any help or suggestions!!!!
Getting that special hanger that someone makes or stuffing something in there is not the answer.
Headers are not designed to hold the engine from twisting, and stuffing something between the header and frame puts all the twisting force on that header.
If that piece of **** keeps the header from hitting the floor it also puts too much stress on the header. The header is not designed to hold the engine down. People shouldn't make products that do this. Trending Topics

if done right it would be as stiff as stock. and you proably only need to remove about 1/4".
or you could clearance the exhaust pipe...again 1/4" would probably be enough, and would have negligable affect on exhaust flow.
flowtech did it to their Ypipe from the factory...i already had poly motor mounts so i'm not sure how it would have worked stock. but it definatly helpped.
I also screwed a piece of water/heater hose to the frame rail also just in case.
I will probably do the poly motor mounts when I can though.
To the OP my apology for giving bad advice
There is a reason factory uses engine/tranny/suspension rubber compliant mounts - because most people would be unhappy with the inherent vibration felt with less complaint bushings/mounts...
This will stop the Y from ever hitting the floor.
I still have stock mounts on my own car and have never had the Y hit the floor.
It can't

As a test, put your car in first gear from a roll, and punch the gas and let off. Notice how much the shifter moves. If it really jumps over, its moving too much. With ym poly engine/trans mounts, you have to watch very closely to see it budge
