Default Seized balancer???????

I have a LQ4 that im trying to get the balancer off of, the balancer is seized on the crank, I have used many different pullers, even broke a few trying to get this thing off, using a torque wrench as well and soaking it in pb blaster.... does anyone have any recommendations? Ive never had a pulley this hard to get off, usually they come straight off with no issues what so ever, maybe it rusted to the crank, not sure. As far as now with no luck and unless somone has anything better I will try to cut the balancer off, ill basically grind it down far enough to get the front cover off and pull the crank out of the engine, then I will take the crank and slowly grind the rest down until it is no longer on the crank..... not sure if thats the best way or not but any help is appreciated, even tried knocking the rust loose with a hammer, no luck.

Thanks
Mike

I assume I could take it somewhere and have them torch it and hopefully cause it to come loose but I have no truck and no money rite now to pay someone to do that lol.

You can try to heat it with a torch and use a puller to get it off. Or if you decide to cut it use a cutting disk and cut a thin line from front to back, with out cutting in to the crank once its very thin take a chisel and crack the score line and should slide off.

Yea I was going to try all of this, first have to grind it down far enough to get the cover off, I have 2 extra balancers, one from a 5.3 and one from an LS1 so Im not worried about the balancer.

I would try to get a puller on it then heat it up with a torch and see if it starts to budge before the cutting starts.

You don't need an expensive torch. Most parts stores sell an inexpensive ($10-$15) propane torch that works well.

Go get a puller and a rubber mallet or hammer. Put pressure on it and smack it with the hammer. It should pop.

Tried that, didnt budge, the only thing that happened was that the balancer started chipping apart. I think the balancer is rusted really bad.

Did you try an impact on the end of the puller?

The last puller broke with just a torque wrench.
