Default ported FAST 90/90 overkill on cam only? NOPE

enough proof for me!!

link in the Dyno Forum

not only did it make more power peak, but it made a pretty considerable gain across the rpm band.

first run is ls6 with ported TB....2nd is with the ported FAST 90/90. car never came off the dyno during the swap.

interesting to note that my injectors were at something like 106% DC at WOT.

car didn't run lean so we didn't bother to swap to bigger ones.

the 99s have the "small" injectors right?

thanks....i was pleased.

i was hoping to make more before the swap...since i had upgraded the flywheel, exhaust and waterpump.

but then again i also went from 245 tires to 315s

i told myself going in that i "wanted" 415-420rwhp....but would be damn pleased to get a realistic 410rwhp.

so going just shy of 409 made me

might need to do one of these comparisons with a nice set of milled TFS "as cast" heads.

Great results. As mentioned in the other thread, you might get more, if you wanted to take it apart @ smooth it out a little. Either way, very nice..

WOW! Great gains man! This even further justifies the spending of $1450 for my ported one from Ron @ Vengeance. Maybe this will pursuade some of the, shall we say conservative in respect to the wallet, folks.

thunder that's great that you don't feel it justifies it. but once you've exhausted most other avenues of power gains...you're stuck with the big stuff.

and if you search like i did, you can find good deals and save A LOT of coin.

i paid $1200 shipped for the lightly ported intake, gaskets, hardware, Throttle Body, stock ls1 fuel rail (didn't need but was included)....AND a set of cleaned and flowmatched Bosch Green Top 42# injectors.

that's better part of $1600 worth of parts....for $1200

and my $60 dremel tool did the final porting that i think really helped the setup.

the $300 i sold the LS6 intake and TB....made it even better.

for those of us who can't afford heads and all the misc parts they require...or who don't have the means to install heads....this makes a GREAT upgrade.

i think it was well worth the money

Car never came off the Dyno correct? Was this a tuned car with a Ls6 and ported T/B and then did just a swap to 90/90, or did you retune the car for the 90/90?

We ported my buddies FAST on his 01 ZO6 w/ full exhaust and a P1SC (stock cam, stock heads) fugger picked up over 20rwhp midrange and about 15rwhp at the top!

I'm not bashing anyone who buys one, but its just not something I see myself doing. But my car is a daily driver too...and I also have plenty of room to do heads in the car in a snap too.

I wouldn't mind to get my hands on a good 78mm FAST for cheap that I could port myself and maybe open up the inlet some more (heard you can do up to 85mm iirc)

It would be great if someone would get off their **** and make a comparable intake so they couldn't get away with the robbery they charge for a hunk of plastic. To me its more that principle that deters my interest. Just like $100 Affliction t shirts and Rayban sunglasses...just not my thing.

Great gains either way though.

never came off the dyno

car was tuned (since its had a cam for 4 yrs) before the intake

swapped the intake

retuned.....redynoed....results on the graph
