bolt all your accessories to the longblock! All you will use on the 5.3 that came on it:

shortblock
heads
valley cover
front and rear covers

use your stock:
oil pan
valve covers
coils
intake
harmonic balancer
accessories

what year is the motor? ive heard the newer truck motors have better coils than the old car style

all your doing is a motor swap!! which if his blows up he will have to do anyways! Whats involved in doing this is involved in swapping a forged 346 into his stock 346s' place!!

I say do it...its not that much work...can be done in a weekend if you really want to. And you will still be able to drive your car while building your other motro. The thought has crossed my mind, because the 5.3's are a dime a dozen.
