Default Should I go to a 1 3/4 1 7/8 stepped header from Kooks?

I will be getting my heads and cam installed soon.
A 230/236 cam with Absolute Speed stage 2 5.3's. I have Hookers now, and would it be a good idea to get the Kooks stepped headers? I might also put some spray on it too.

If not these headers..what would you recommend...Let me know because I found a GP for them!!

Thanks

I do not think that a 1 3/4 inch header could hinder a stock cubed motor unless you had some serious flowing intake tract and the heads out flowed ported LS6's. I would think that your gains would be negligible.

I picked up quite a bit up top with the stepped Kooks, over my old SLPs. No gains at all down below 4500, but over that, they picked up 15 rwhp, and carried the torque curve way out further. This was also on a max effort H/C setup.

No comparision between the SLP and the Kooks though. I dont think you'll gain much if anything. I wouldnt bother...

Cheers,
Chris

Really...I get a lot of mixed signals. I have a guy that would buy my Hookers...didn't know if I should do it and pay the difference to get the Kooks??

Thanks for the feedback...keep it coming!!!

3" collector. I think you can get them in a 3.5" but not sure.

I would be surprised if you could tell a difference running through that Loudmouth with only a 3" I pipe, that's where your bottle neck is now IMO. I'm assuming you still have the stock cam also?

If you are talking to me...then yes I have the stock cam...but I will be putting a 230/236 cam and stage 2 5.3's from Absolute Speed soon.

Is it worth the 500-700 extra dollars that I would pay the difference of from selling my current Hookers w/orp?

The other option would be changing to a QTP y pipe...with the dual cutouts built in...so I can get a diff. catback, and still have the wide open option.

Let me know your thoughts!!

Thanks

Hmmm that's a pretty good sized cam, plus the with the stage two heads maybe you really could use the stepped headers. I guess it all comes down to how much money you want to put into it. Plan b makes more sense though; with that cam and no cats you will probably want a quieter catback anyway.

Any educated guesses on what the car might make with YT 1.7, ASP pulley, with the Hookers and ORP w/loudmouth...and maybe a guess at a might gain x amount with the Kooks???

Thanks
