Default slp maf

I know a guy that is selling a slp lid, slp maf, and bellow for $200. I was wondering if the slp maf is worth getting? I have a 2000 ws6 and it is completely stock.

I heard that they work rather well, just make sure you get the right one, because there are different maf's. There is a 98-00 and a 01-02 maf. Im not sure what the projected hp increase is, id love somebody to chime in and post some numbers from adding one.

Ditto, I havn't ever seen much proof that by just adding a bigger MAF will net you much power gains or even a SOTP feeling.

Anyone care to chime in?!?!

I agree.... You won't see much gain with a stock motor. I changed my maf to a 85mm out of a 5.3l truck but that required a bit of computer changes. Advise i have had was to just stay with a oem maf. Think about it this way..... NEW SLP Lid=100, NEW SMOOTH bellow= 55, new OEM 85mm maf= 250ish

Hmmm, so if the slp maf would be a bad bolt on if my car was already tuned? I have never heard of anyone putting the 85mm maf from the truck. How hard is the fitment? does it still fit the lids? It just needs a tune to get it to run right?

i run one on an 01 z28 with the fast toys 85mm lid. i used the maf table from a truck and tuned it to my car. i like the 85mm mafs because they have the iat built in and it seems like there is not as much heat soak as the iat in the lid had. you would need an adapter for the maf unless you got a 5 wire pigtail and wired it yourself.

ok, so let me get this straight? I have an 02 SS, so i would need a new lid and an adapter and a new tune. Where can i find one of these adapters?

If you have already been tuned LEAVE YOUR MAF ALONE.

The truck MAFs max out wayyyy early too, just FYI. They will make the car run RICH at WOT without retuning as well (they report high).

i just dont understand why anyone would buy a 200$ SLP 85mm maf when you can get a brand new one for 45$ that takes a 25$ connector and its essentially the same thing. especially if you're getting a tune anyway
