Default Porting Ls1 Intake Manifold Questions

Who all here has done this and do you have any dyno information before and after to show your gains? Also how long did it take and where all did you cut stuff out from?

nobody really does it.

everyone talks about it...basically asks the same question you did...

but i have yet to really see anyone with ACTUAL data on it.

general concensus is leave it stock, if you want more flow than that....ported FAST.

Somehow I have missed other people posting this same question. I did a budget build and do not really want to speed $300 on a ls6 intake and have yet to even do a ported tb which i am fixing to get this week finally.

Ported Tb doesnt look that difficult I think I might tackle it next week. I reccomend you dont try the intake if you never did any porting...and for what it'll cost you to get that done you might as well get the LS6/bbk/weiland etc...fast's are good but way too expensive imo...

my uncle and dad own a machine shop and they have ported plenty of heads i dont think they will have a problem with an intake and its only $50 for a new one if this ones gets messed up.

part of the gains from the LS6 and even the FAST are from increased plenum volume. which you won't be able to accomplish with porting an ls1.

and the runners are redesigned...not just bigger.

you probably would see some gains, but with the time and effort...you can find a deal on an LS6 or a used FAST.

i paid $900 for my FAST intake and TB....and it was already lightly ported....and i gained 18hp/12ftlbs on the dyno with JUST the intake swap.
that was over an ls6 with ported TB.
