how bad are flowmasters?
I get this feeling my flowmaster catback is really chocking up things.
just ran a 7.80 @ 91.5 at roxboro last sat. was hoping for 92-93.. I listened to the run of the vid and it sounded like it was struggling to push the exhaust out. It sounds rasty as **** honestly with a cam and a y pipe. So, I'm thinking of TSP true duals.
so the question is, is there trap and et to be had from ditching the flowcrapster?
btw its a cam only car thats about to recieve heads.. in about a week and a half. Mods are tv2, pacesetters, ss4000, kn intake and my tuning.
run was made on American generals with 3.23 so dont be to hard on my only running 7.80's....

flowmasters are BAD. their sole purpose is to sound good as a replacement for a stock muffler. with a TD setup you will feel a noticable difference and the numbers will be there to back that up

Flows aint THAT bad, I have the 80 series on my car. But I also have a cutout. You should consider an E-cutout so you can maximize your power, sound like NASCAR, keep 'er quiet when u want 2, and save a little coin in the process instead of a whole new catback.

x2 I have headers, ory 3in back to a single in dual out 80 series. The cut out will deffinently save you some serious cash. If you don't like the sound of your set up when the cut out is closed, you may want to think about a Borla set up. They have a deeper richer tone, and don't have the signature raspiness of the Flowmaster. Just my .02

Flowmasters will choke up the engine. i know that from experirence with my own cars as well as cars i have worked on in the past. Magnaflow is probably the best flowing cat-back for the money. going from a Borla, to two 1 chambers dumped, in the end the magnaflow has made the most power, and the car has ran its best times with this system.

Same car, same dyno, same evening, picked up 21rwhp with a Hooker catback over a Flowmaster. Cam-only M6 car made 380rwhp through the Flowmaster and 401rwhp after the Hooker. If I hadn't seen it myself, I probably wouldn't have believed it.

Wow that is great. The 1 chambers are not that restrictive though

I wonder if mines is holding me back I want to change it I want it more quiet I heard a magnaflow is a more quite and better sounding setup. People like how my **** sounds though I always get compliments but I want to be more quiet. If I could gain 21 more hp and some more TQ from the cat-back change man I would love that.

Yea I had a flow cat back on my ws6 and just installed a slp dynomouth and lid, I can def tell a difference. I installed the lid a few days before the dynomouth and not much of a difference. After the catback was put on a totally different car. Sorry I do not have numbers for you, but I can tell you the difference in the feel and response is pretty noticable.
