Drop the girls; pick up the nozzle. Gas doesn't back-talk.

Well for a college student who is on a budget (me)..I bought the car with 4.10 in them..And i bought it from a guy who didnt know what F-Body meant...

So what do i get now with 4.10 and a 3200 stall??

Fun...Yeah its great taking off, but Highway is a Killer..No Overdirve unless you revvvvvvvvvvvvv it

Noise--Sounds like a chicken is trapped in my diff

Tranny--HORRIBLE GRINDING, AND SHUDDER goin into 3rd at any moment Freeway or Street..And now have to get another tranny..Also the guy didn't put a Tranny Cooler with it..So go figure what happenes

Rear End-Rebuild Time!!!

Im not trying to scare him away, but its just my experience

And Alot of others

I vote 3.73 since it is an auto car. The 4.10s in my car are wicked quiet (so quiet in fact, I can't even hear them they are as quiet as stock), and have been for 40k miles. Just use GM OE 4.10 gears if you are in a 10bolt and I bet they will setup perfect using the stock shims. Same goes for the 3.73's, get GM OE gears, not Italian made Motives, or Richmond etc. The GM OE gears are made by a division of Motive, and are made in the US. They normally come under a generic name. I'm sure one of our sponsors sells them, or you could google GM OE 4.10 and see what happens, or PM me for where to get them.

How bout 3.90's???????????

They'd be good in an M6, wouldn't they?

Or should I get the 3.73's as well???

nah, I'd go 4.10's with an M6 anyday. Trust me, 70mph is 1900 rpm or so for me with 4.10's, they are perfect for a manual car, we have double overdrive.

My mods are 3.73's, LTS, lid, and tune..

I got like 18mpg mixed with a heavy foot pre mods.. and now I'm getting about the same thing 17/18 so nothing too drastic.. but it makes a HUGE difference in the fun factor

If this were a turbo car I'd say dont do anything. Taller gears make for a better engine load, ie more exhaust. How many miles a week do you drive the car?

My ole man has 4:10 in his A4 and wishes he had 3:73s. I have 3:73s in my M6 and would like 4:10s...to bad he has 10 bolts and I 12. 4:10 gets tiring on highway trips IMHO.

exactly! m6's need at least 4:10s to even feel a difference, anything less isnt worth the money. cruisin on the interstate at like 2400 rpms at 80 is great, but having that snappy first gear makes it even better

Is 3.42 gear an option on an Fbod ?? If so I think it would be the best overall choice.

I am affraid of putting good tires on mine. I've got a few souvenir carrier teeth in my toolbox from when I had my cover off last Putting gears in a 10 bolt is $500 that you will wish you had when you go to buy a 9"
