Default y pipe hitting floor....

Just installed my new hooker oryp and it is hitting the floor on the driver's side. Is there anything I can put between the pipe and the floor to keep it from banging that won't melt from the heat, or should I just hammer the floor up a little bit? I have heard that this type of banging can cause false KR,thus causing the computer to pull timing, is this true?

Break out da BIG

And yes, banging exhaust parts are the #1 cause of false KR.

I'm having the same problem with a pacesetter y. Is it better to the floorboard or the y?

Well you can do what I did: cut the two bulges out of the floor pan on the driver side that make the clearance so tight there! I used a die grinder to do it. I have subframe connectors and an 8-point roll bar, so I don't think I've compromised the strength any. But I still plan to weld a u-channel on the top of the floor pan just incase. It should make only a small bulge under the carpet just in front of the driver's seat.

Besides banging the floorpan and using the radiator hose, here are a few other options:

1) loosen all the attachment hardware on your Y-pipe and wedge something (a piece of wood is good) between the floor and the closest point of contact on the driver's side. Then tighten everything up and remove the "spacer". This can take some of the tolerances out and you may gain some clearance.

2) Consider installing poly motor mounts on both sides or at least on the driver's side only. I've found that these will dramatically reduce engine movement, which, of course, translates to Y-pipe movement.
