I have had these sitting around for a year and finally me and my buddy are putting them on. I'll let you know how it goes I can't wait to hear this this thing wake up. My buddy has them on his car and used a hooker oryp which is what I went with but I tried a bunch of places and they are on back order so I gotta wait another week. From the y it will go into a magnaflow and out through mecham ovals.

They dont look too bad, but look how the primaries flow into the collector. The outer part of each one if blocked by the collector wall...thats not good for power and flow.

Not trying to rain on your parade, just stating.

I also see how the collector is angled upwards, that would be a PITA to fix if you dont have a set of torches or know someone who does, b/c they NEED to be straight and that y-pipe is probably going to bang whether you have poly MM's or not.

Good luck on you install Biff, let us know how the y-pipe works out.

True but for most people with a stockish car up to a mild bolt on car i've always been told midlengths are recommended. I dont know that there is any proof behind that but if its true people looking for a budget header and fall into that category probably wouldnt get hurt by it much if at all due to the collector. Heck might help with low end. Again I have no proof of any of that just makes sense to me.

I just ordered a set off ebay tonight, We own an exhaust shop so I MIGHT have a custom Y made, but it would be a lot easier if there was an aftermarket Y that worked pretty good. Could someone PM me what they used for a Y-Pipe and let me know how that brand worked? I see hooker mentioned here, just curious what route I should go with.

Have you measured the inner diameter of the primaries and the collector. I thought I remembered seeing another thread about some E-bay headers where they said they were 1 3/4" primaries and 3" collectors but that was the Outter diameter and the inner diameter was 1/8 of an inch or more smaller. It was a good thread it had pictures of the headers and showing a tape measurer at all locations. I'd search this all you e-bay-ers. Or look at some number or track time comparisons. You get what you pay for usually.

I ordered the hooker but its on backorder, hopefully it will be here on monday. We did get some progress done. We had to do a little grinding on the k member and it looks like we may have to tweek the drivers side but won't know for sure until the y pipe gets here.

curious on what brand it was you got or who the vendor is. My buddies fit in without any issues at all. I know there are a few different brands out there.

I would say mid lengths would work better on a stock motor car as well.

Take 4 straws in the shape of a square and put them in your mouth and blow as hard as you can. Then, take 2 fingers and block a good bit of the tubes outter edge and blow again. It will be harder and not as much air will come out. Imagine that multipied by hundreds and thats what the engine will be fighting at high RPM.

So no word on y-pipe fitting yet biff?

I'm curious too, my headers should be here tommarrow and I'm still not sure what I'm going to use for a Y-Pipe, id prefer not to hassle making a y-pipe but if everyone who had ebay headers had to custom do theirs, then I might have to as well.

Dude, you said you own an exhaust shop...if it has a mandrel pipe bender than thats without a doubt what I'd do for a y-pipe.

To make it easier on the exhaust guy, buy a flowmaster merge to weld in on the end and the rest shouldnt be too hard for him to make. Adding cats would make it more interesting though.

thats exactly why i don't know about making it in the shop. no mandrel bender, have to buy mandrel bent pipes and use a flowmaster merge, just a pain to order that stuff and weld it all up if I can just get a Y-Pipe that is close.

well, got the headers today and they look awesome! also figured out who the company is that makes these lets just say I'm sort of upset that I bought them off ebay, if they fit halfway decent I will definately become a vendor and start selling these headers to forum members.

My car's been just shy of 114mph in the quarter with these headers.

I'd say they work - considering my car just has bolt-on's minus a UDP and a FAST78 intake.

I should mention the DA was 2400ft too.

Would I go faster with better headers - that's the $1000 question.

I just took some real good pictures of them for those interested. Someone mentioned before that they thought the collector setup was restricting flow... Its not much different than most other headers I've seen if you ask me, I think the picture is very deceiving as you will see in my pictures, it simply slopes down to 3inch just like any header would have to, its not just a sudden wall and then 3inch.. here is some pictures of them laid out on my floor. I do have high resolution photos but these should give you guys a better idea of how they look compared to the crappy pictures otherwise posted.
