Default Intake overkill???

ok i have the LS6 intake on my 383 LS1 as it sits. ive been looking at perhaps going the F.A.S.T. route. ive been reading on some threads that the FAST 92 and even some 90s arent gaining much hp on certain set ups so therefore not worth it. reguardless ive been thinking i can get a killer deal on a 90 or a ported 90 since the 92 came out. as luck would have it there is a super sale on the 92. my question is: is the 90 or 92 an overkill on my set up or will the LS6 be right for my combo?

denpending on your cam and rpm's the ls6 is a weak link in a 346 setup. Safe to say it is probably holding you back now.

90/90 is good for 10hp over an ls6 on a stock internal car- as much as 25hp can be had from a cammed 347, you can only imagine your setup- 90/90 is always a big jump in performance, but it comes at a price

EDIT: wheres the sale at? lol my next mod was going to be an ls6 but if its that cheap

I'm betting you gain a good bit on your setup. BTW, one of the sponsors is having a smokin' sale on FAST 92s in the Sponsor Sale section. Good luck,

Larry

a ported victor jr and 4150 (4 barrel carb style TB) consistently pulls 10 rwhp more than either the ported fast's.

this is not true there was no gain going from a ls6 to a fast on a SI car...

https://ls1tech.com/forums/drag-raci...r-results.html

i would say it is worth it on a 383 but only look at back to back dynos for comparison...

Gained 18.2 peak HP, and lots of throttle response.

gained 18hp and 12 ftlbs on a cam only 346ci.

peak was at 6300rpm

gained power from 3000rpm up to peak, never lost power.

this was ovr the LS6 and ported TB....done on the same dyno, same day, tuned before and after.

Its well worth it with a cam like urs! The car will breath some much better and with out a doubt you will pick up atleast 15 ponies from it.
