I ran a guy who had a cutout once and it sounded
pretty bad-***.

How much gain depends on what kind of exhaust you
have on there. If you figure the SS exhausts were
(rated to be) good for 10HP over stock and that
was still with a muffler, you can figure a cutout is
good for at least a little more than that.

I have a 3" Summit cutout (I'm pretty sure it's made by flowtech). Sounds absolutely badass under WOT acceleration. Part throttle or cruising doesn't sound that great, but hey, it was only like $25. Not sure about HP. If I were to guess, maybe 5 horse over SS exhaust, 10 over stock??? It's a good mod IMHO, since you can easily make it quiet if you need/want to.

FWIW, I gained 17 RWHP opening mine. Not a bad mod for cheap power!

Definately get a cut-out... got mine from Jegs, and you can damn sure tell that there is more power there, even if just a little. Sounds damn good too... IMO

I have the SLP dual/dual exhaust and a cut-out and have done testing on the dyno with it opened/closed. When the car was near stock it netted 10hp. Now with H/C, headers etc., my gains are 22hp.

I did back to back runs at the track 1 open cutout run 1 closed cutout run. The open cutout dropped e/t by just shy of 3 tenths by slightly increasing my trap speed. Best bang for the buck out there. Everything else in the run was identical. This is an A4 car. Try the sponser Speed Inc. to the right.

Hmmm interesting thread . . . proves most fbody exhaust systems are still pretty restrictive, especially for a modified engine; I suspected that.

I threw down 320hp and 340tq with just a 3" cut out added to my 01 SS M6. Although I have seen others dyno higher stock I am still happy with it. Definatly sounds good at WOT!

I went from 12.39 @ 109.5 to 12.17@111.93 MPH with nothing different except a cutout.

That's about 25 HP.

Well, I can't find my closed cutout run but I remeber it was 13.6X, and my open cutout run was 13.3X. So as I said just shy of 3 tenths. My short times are very consistent as this is an A4 car at 2.1X with a very poorly prepped track and warm/muggy conditions that night. My cutout is installed on the i-pipe before the axle. It dumps to the passenger side and slightly down. The next time I go to the track I will do back to back runs again and make sure I keep my slips from both and label them so you all can see what it does. This gain is over the Corsa Pro Tip exhaust too.

JBIRD, I personally don't have a cutout but I'm going to go with yes, it will net you gains if you have the Loudmouth. I believe the only system that a cutout is totally pointless on is a true dual setup. I can't wait to get my QTEC's!!
