well im pulling my head to put new 5.3L 2.5 prc on and am just about to the back head bolts by the exhaust and was wondering what going to be the easiest way to get thoes out since they are tight as hell and theres not much room to get anything in there. any input will help for tomarrow disassemby.

 

well, i just finished 99% of my ls6 head swap. getting to the bottom row of bolts is the hugest bitch. well no mater what you need to unbolt the headers from the head. but what i did also was disconnect the y pipe from the i pipe since i couldnt remove the headers from the Y. i jacked the car about about a foot and let the headers fall down as far as they could. i had too fiddle the headers around somewhat to make all the bolts accessible. i had to remove the steerling linkage on the DS for more clearance as well.

the easiest way is to remove the headers from the car all together. it shouldnt be that hard. only reason i couldnt remove mine was because the headers were 'crushed' onto the y pipe at the exhaust clamps

 

thats kinda what i was thinking just take the headers out i have them unbolted already and was like **** this isnt going to work worth a **** i would of been better off leaveing them on at first but looks like ill have to do what i didnt want to do again

 

Take the headers out and you should be fine. Have a box of band aids readily available

haha I know what ur sayin bout the band aids I just about put the breaker bar through my window trin to get the first set of bolts out lol

 

spray the bolts down with penetrating oil. i was using a homemade 3 foot breaker bar/lacrosse stick to break the bolts free.

holy **** thoes bolts were hard to get out hope the drivers side goes better. now how the hell am i going to get the new ones in and torqued to the right spec. lol
