Borla catback

Borla catback Sorry bout the newbness of this question, but what are the adjustable plates that i hear(read) everybody talking about on borla catbacks? I have a borla catback with the quad tips(2 on each side) that I've read saying that they are "intercooled" or whatever? Well about the plates, where are they?
the plates are just that, metal plates with varying size holes in them, and one that has no hole.
on the passenger side of the rear exhaust, just after the axle, there should be a Y or basically a cutout.
it should have a 3 bolt flange, thta is where the plates go.
one side of the Y should go to the muffler, the other out to the passenger side tail pipe.
by putting plates in that 3 bolt flange, you control how much of the exhaust is forced through the muffler, or how much bypasses it out the tip.
the intercooler tips are basically a fancy name for the "look" of the tip. they have the inner tube, then an outer tube with some fins connecting the two. its for looks, and the name sounds cool
i'm not a fan of the borla, while the stainless construction is nice. the pricetag for a glorified cutout is WAY too much.
i can get the same sound with a $350 exhaust and a $50 cutout.

I agree you could get a borla muffler and put it in the tsp rumber system and get a cutout on it and its the exact same thing

you and have the same problem. My car also came with the borla already on and I didnt get any plates either.
I have read on here of people making their own plates because I here they are quite pricey if you go through borla. I run mine open with LT's/ORY it gets loud at WOT but not too loud for me!

I was thinking about making my own plates, too and just play around with different size holes. I dont know which one is on right now though. I need to check.
They do sell them as a kit. Four plates in the kit, if I remember right. I had to call them directly and it took almost forever.... 5 weeks. I had given up and bought used plates.
