LMK because it seems like my car likes to bog if im accelerating pretty hard and its irritating me. if it isnt plugs then what else can it be?

 

Clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump, plugs, bad wires. Things to check/change.

 

Well.. I just went out and its more of a sputter then a bogging.. Like you can hear it sputtering when accelerating. its annoying me.. Im going to take it to a shop to get it overhauled.. Just wondering what it is

 

Misfiring. Stock MAF?

 

Thats what someone just told me. I have no clue to be honest with you.. I just got the car the other day

02s possibly bad......if you replace them might need to retune. Happened to me, she was running lean......bogged down on acceleration.

 

Wouldnt it most likely fail CA smog if the 02s were bad? the car passed the tough CA Smog the other day with flying colors

No. Not if it's running lean. If it was running pig rich then yes, but have you ever replaced them? How many miles on them?

 

The previous owner said its because that there is a exhaust leak where the y and i pipes connect.. Would that cause the sputtering?

 

thats too far down the stream to cause any issues with the o2s, the only thing that is causing is a weird noise

 

Well what kind of car are you driving? First thing I would do is to check your spark plugs and see what they look like, and make sure they are tight and that the wires are all the way into the plug. Another thing, at night get your car to running temp which is around 210 for lsX and ltx engines, open your hood and If you see a blue spark that means that your wires are bad, believe me I've gone thru all this crap! And like others said check your 02 sensors as well

Yes you can go down to your local NAPA and get a can of MAF cleaner for about $5.00. Just take the screw clamp loose at the TB, take off your MAF and IAT wires and pull the lid and you can take the whole assembly off and spray it.

 

I had it dropped off at a shop to get some parts added on and they said they would look around.. They said it was indeed a misfire and it could be anything from compression issues or coils and stuff. Doubt its compression related since it does run very good just that higher rpm misfire

 

Turns out i was right lol. Plug 7 was pretty much non existent.. So now im paying 250 bucks for the plugs and to get them changed becuase id rather have it done while at the shop

 

damn man they are bending you over. i paid 20 bucks for my ngk55s and installed them in like 15 minutes

 

At that price I could open a shop and keep it afloat with customers like you.

Yeah, I just got my Fbod and had the same problem. Car hadn't been driven at all in last 3 years and was sputtering bad. Got plugs and wires, spent 5 hours and changed them myself. Fixed the problem perfectly!
It took at while, but dunno if I was at the $250 frustration level though
Save some $$ and try it yourself. You'll get to know your car at an intimate level LOL

I spent alot of money at that shop.. The plugs themselves were damn expensive.. 18 buck a plug.. HOLY CRAP. i was used to paying 16 bucks for 8 autolite 25s for my third gen....
