Default Does your car do this?

Whenever I have the AC on and go W.O.T. it cuts off. Is there some kind of W.O.T. shutoff for the AC or can my compressor not hang @ 6K? A coworker of mine was thinking either some kind of secondary shut off or the pressure is low on the low side of the compressor and it shuts off because it cannot pull enough frion into the compressor.

Does anyone elses do this? Its not a problem, more like a convenience because I dont have to shut it off and remember to turn it back on myself.

Also, doesnt seem more powerful when I do manually shut it off, so it is as if the clutch disengages @ W.O.T. for sure.

weird.... or normal?

Under WOT conditions, the AC cuts off yes.

Absolutely normal, and it will also cut off above a certain rpm even if you're not at wot. I beleive mine was set at 4000 rpm. So if you're just rolling in the throttle and go above 4000rpm, it will disengage the ac compressor so it doesn't burn it out.

Good question O.P. I didn't even know about any of this. Apparrently I've not had the A/C on under WOT.

All cars have this feature. You don't want to be running an A/C compressor to 6000 rpm!

LSLwLS1, how did you figure out the AC compressor clutch was disengaging at WOT?

My buddies tuner for his Camaro was messing with this limit one time and forgot to make it turn off. His A/c comp. went BOOM right around 6400RPM and there was a large chunk missing from the bottem side.
