Has anyone modified stock valve covers ,to look more like the competition style.Thats without the provisions to bolt the coil brackets to the covers.I was wondering if they could be cut off and then ground down flush and still have a good result.

yea thats the driver side cover. I milled off the coil bosses then tig welded in the bottom of the bolt holes, sanded then paint and clear. The paint is actually duplicolor wheel paint that matches what I have on my rims. Getting the rims powder coated black so I will be doing something different with the valve covers I will look for more pics

Thanks for the more detailed info.Thats what I thought ,that there would be a small void area, that once the boss is cut down and ground flush.I'm a good welder but don't have access to a tig so I guess mine may have to wait til I find someone to weld them cheap.I believe mine have a total of 15 bosses, do they all require filling? A couple are a little taller and wider than the rest. And what brand of clear did you use ?I was afraid that it may yellow or haze the clear coat do to heat, doesn't seem to be a problem on yours. They look great!
